At Coffee Meet #27 we skip the generic "how to become a better PM" talk and look at what actually changes when you want
Topics When does being a great Project Manager stop being enough?
- ✅ Why being a strong Project Manager may not be enough for Functional Leadership
- ✅ The mindset shift from delivering projects to building sustainable capabilities
- ✅ Project Management vs Functional Leadership — what actually changes?
- ✅ Why the skills that make you successful as a PM can hold you back in the next role
- ✅ Real lessons from my own Functional Leadership interview experience
- ✅ What I would do differently if I had those interviews today
And we'll keep it interactive: we'll take real project management situations and ask one simple question — What would you do differently if you were responsible for the function, not just the project?
About the Speaker 👤 Mahmud Mahmudlu, PMP — Technical Project Manager @ Betsson Group · PMP Trainer @ PMania Hub · Project Management Instructor & Practitioner
Mahmud Mahmudlu is a Technical Project Manager at Betsson Group in Tallinn, where he leads cross-functional initiatives and delivers implementation, migration, monitoring and optimization projects. Before that he spent nearly five years at Ericsson as a Test Project Manager, introducing new testing practices and working across people management and process improvement. Alongside his corporate work he runs PMania Hub as a consultant and PMP® trainer, building it into a platform where project managers learn and grow together. His path started in Baku — project delivery at IDEA, then operations roles — before moving to Estonia and completing his studies at the University of Tartu. That combination is what makes this session useful: he has done project delivery at scale inside large technical organisations, trains others for PMP certification, and has recently been through Functional Leadership interviews himself — so the lessons he shares are first-hand, not theoretical.
